Southport U3A

Patchwork and Quilting Group Lunch

Southport u3a patchwork and quilting

It’s always nice when we get reports from our Activity Groups, especially when they are as positive as this one about the Patchwork and Quilting group, received from Jannice Crawford.

The Patchwork and Quilting group met for a wonderful pre Christmas lunch at Auberge in Southport on Friday Dec 3rd.

We are 12 ladies who meet on the 1st/3rd Friday morning  of each month at Maplewood Court in Southport. At the start of the new term last September there were only 5 of the original group wanting to return so when I put in an advertisement I was inundated with applicants.

The 7 new ladies have all very quickly settled into the group and we have become firm friends and co-workers  Some ladies have made cakes for us all to enjoy during the morning session breaks. As leader I have been delighted with the friendship and fellowship that has been created as well as us all enjoying something we love doing.

I have given a formal lesson on how to make a Christmas tree from equilateral triangles and over the holiday they have sent me pictures of their results which have been impressive. We are planning some social outings and afternoon teas as well as meeting on Fridays.

This is what the U3A is all about – making friends and coming together to enhance our learning and education. We are all on Whatsapp and keep in touch too through this.
