The photos here show the two cushions made by our Stitchers group, for the Southport Flower Show.
The cushions are now going to be donated to one of our members who works at the Southport Hospice
We are a group of 16 ladies who meet every 1st and 3rd Fridays and come together to create a variety of Art Textiles while having a cuppa, a chat and fun!!!
We have moved to the Fleetwood Hesketh Social Club Pavillion where we will be able to continue making, sewing, knitting, doing embroidery, patchwork and a whole lot of other artistic textiles.
Some members of the group are in the U3A gardening group; they found out that hte group were creating a garden for the Flower Show and wanted to have other groups involved. Thus the two cushions were designed and made in fabric patches, with applique and embroidery and the other using knitted and crochet techniques.
The centre squares in both are produced by a computer aided design where one of the ladies designed the lettering and motif and then the computer produced this design on fabric.
I personally am very proud of each one of the ladies in the group and we were very privileged to have made them and to be seen by the general public at the show.
