Christchurch May Meeting

christ church may meeting of southport u3a

On Thursday May 2nd at our Christ Church May meeting we will host two celebrities.

Author, Elizabeth Morton, returns to award four prizes to our successful Short Story finalists.

Elizabeth shared “Judging was really difficult, so many absolute gems. Each one shone a light, so wonderful to read”. All the stories will be made available on the Southport u3a web site in mid May, so be prepared for some excellent reads, we have some extraordinarily good authors in our group.

A change from the advertised Denn Conway, our entertaining speaker is Gladys Armstrong, Genealogist & historian. Former Graduate of Lancaster University,  she runs a Family History Group in Southport Library & is Chairman of both Rimmer FHS & North Meols Civic Society. She is passionate about the history of ancient Southport.

An amusing insight into the Marshside Fishermen & their Families, a history of the area & how, in ancient times, the people survived & worked &
became the major fishing area in the ancient Township of North Meols.
