Southport U3A

Group 4 Walking in and on Banks

On a day of blue skies and sunshine, fourteen members of Walking Group 4 started a seven mile walk just past the Croston roundabout, on the A59 by the “Buttie”van. However, before they could start, three members decide to try out the large Bacon baps !

The group 4 walkers started along the banks of the River Douglas and then past Tarleton lock gates, the boat yard and the moorings. From there they continued up towards the Ribble way, past the Dolphin Pub, along to Hall Green and then onto Much Hoole, crossing the old Southport to Preston railway line on the way.

A short stop was made to view the inside of St Michael’s church and then it was on to Sooty’s for cake and coffee.
