JANUARY – Monday 11th – Bijou Cinema
The British are coming !! An evening of vintage British Jazz at the Bijou, highlighting the Jazz explosion of the 50s and 60s with the sounds of Acker Bilk, Kenny Ball, Chris Barber, Dudley Moore, Cleo Laine and many more ….. £30 with a 2 course meal.

Jazz Group – February
February – Monday 8th – The Grand
The Frank Griffiths Nonet
Founded by American saxophonist Frank Griffiths in 1997, the Nonet has played at Ronnie Scott’s, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Cadogan Hall, etc.
Frank has arranged for USA Jazz greats such as Jon Hendricks and Lionel Hampton.
The Nonet’s playlist includes Ellington, Mulligan, Davis, Monk and Dankworth … an eclectic fusion of UK/USA music and musicians.

Jamie Brownfield & Liam Byrne Quintet
Two of the most talented horn players on the jazz scene return to the u3a – Jamie (trumpet) and Liam (tenor) breathe fresh life into the jazz canon whilst fronting a rhythm section that can match their artistry and swing. The result – an unmissable combination.

APRIL – Monday 12th – The Grand
Tim Kliphus Trio
The Trio celebrates its 20th Anniversary with a ground-breaking variation of George Gershwin’s masterpiece ‘Rhapsody in Blue’ fusing Classical music and Jazz.
The Trio also add Gershwin gems such as ‘I Got Rhythm’ and ‘It Aint Necessarily So’
and celebrate the music of Aaron Copeland with their jazz arrangement ‘Hoedown for the Common Man’.
