Brian Muddiman to cycle around Europe

Brian Muddiman, our previous Business Secretary, is celebrating turning 80 by cycling approximately 2,400km around Europe, to see relatives and friends.

Turning 80, and not content with sitting in his rocking chair like most normal octogenarians, Brian is cycling from his most recent home in Southport, down to Oxford to see his son, then across to Peterborough to see more relatives. His family have spread out quite a bit so it’s then off across the Alps to Zurich then finally to his old home in the South of France. Brian will be cycling mainly solo but he will be joined along the way by some of his family to encourage him along on his way across Europe. This will be an incredible journey for Brian and he has worked it that he will ride his bike approximately 2,400Km which is 1,491 Miles.

To prepare for this incredible journey, not only does it require a lot of preparation to ensure the bike is in top condition, he also has to ensure he has an abundance of spare parts, for example, in the event of a puncture. Brian has been on a rigid training programme in advance of the trip and has been practicing every day at home on a home-made cycling device to build up his stamina, plus you may have seen him whizz past you on the Streets of Southport but not for long – he’s on his way.

We wish him lots of luck with the wind behind him all the way.
