Out and About Group at Eaton Hall

It was a Great Day Out on Sunday August 25th with the Southport U3A Out and About Group at Eaton Hall – see link to Eaton Hall site. The Out and About Group visited many parts of Eaton Hall and Gardens including the Hall – where the outside was converted to French Chateau style completed in 1991, Victorian Eaton Chapel and the Italian Garden with Dragon Fountain and statues.
Here is the report from the visit:

Eaton Hall is the private home of the Duke of Westminster and it is opened once a year to raise money for local Chester Charities. Despite forecasts of rain and high winds I am glad to report they got it wrong! It was a dry, if overcast day with little wind. This allowed us to spend a lot of time in the magnificent gardens which were pristine and packed with enormous varieties of flowers in a whole variety of laid out formal gardens.

It was just so lovely to wander around and take in the views. They had the gardens in excellent condition despite the recent weather and made the day very worth while. As well as the gardens, we were also able to enter various parts of the house as well, and the quality and attention to detail of everything was very impressive.
