Local History Plan Three Events

Southport u3a local history group

Local History are pleased to be able to advise members about our forthcoming plans; please bear in mind that these will go ahead unless new Covid Restrictions come into force!

16th September.   Bob Mount will undertake 2 guided tours of Hesketh Park and the Observatory. These will be set out in order to allow for spacing. The cost is £2.50.

23rd September.    We have arranged 2 guided tours of the Harris museum in Preston. This will include the history of the building. The first tour begins at approximately 11.30 and the later one will start at 1.30pm. The cost of the tour is £2.00.

29th September,   A repeat of the enjoyable walk with Ann Marshall who is a Blue Badge Guide, entitled “The birth of Waterloo”. This walk will last just over an hour and the meeting place will be opposite Waterloo Railway Station. The cost of this is £5.00

Please note places are limited on each of these trips and application must be made via Beacon.

We have 84 members registered with our group which is great but clearly it is not possible to offer something to include this number of people. We hope there is something of interest with these plans, and that those who apply via Beacon will obtain a place. All payments are to be made at the meeting on September 2nd at the monthly meeting at Christ Church and you will be provided with a receipt which will supply the joining details and a phone number to use in case you need to cancel on the day.

We look forward to seeing members and hopefully “the good times will roll!”

If you need more information about these trips please visit the Local History group page and contact the leader.
