March Gardening Talk

March Gardening Talk

For the March Gardening Group meeting we had a fascinating and inspiring talk from Margaret and Geoff Fletcher on the creation of their beautiful award-winning garden in Saxon Road.

They have lived there for over thirty years, in a lovely Victorian house with a history of keen gardeners. The previous owner had handed down some photos of the garden in 1939 and it was so interesting to see how it had changed and evolved into the horticultural perfection it is today.

Their garden, along with many other splendid local gardens, are open to the public in the summer through the National Garden Scheme, (NGS) a charitable organisation that generously supports many charities. For open times and other details visit ngs.org.uk.

As they had also exhibited gardens at the Southport Flower Show, they had kindly brought some slides of their fabulous winning gardens, eek! It was a formidable ‘heads up’ for the Flower Show team and will be a hard act to follow!
