We are delighted to welcome Denise Salters to be part of the GG Committee, she has been a huge help to the Team since we took over in January and now agreed to be part of the task force. There’s a lot of work to running our group, organising trips, speakers, finances etc and of course the Flower Show garden.
We are making good progress. We now have seven generous sponsors providing the major elements of the garden. On the April 5th we held our first meeting of the u3a Flower Show Volunteers, seventeen eager gardeners came to share our plans and aspirations. Quite a lot of ingenuity was required as we tramped around Lisa’s damp garden viewing a layout of canes and ropes, but inspiring descriptions from Lisa and Chris brought the vision together.
Then back inside to warm up with coffee and birthday cake to celebrate our new committee member, Denise’s birthday. Next down to business, we split into two groups, garden construction and planting, there was lots of enthusiasm, new ideas and plans for the busy months ahead
We aim to provide a varied programme on Gardening, which includes Gardeners’ Question Time, advice on gardening problems, and speakers from the world of gardening. We also run trips to places of interest for gardeners two or three times per year.
