Gardening – Flaming June Finally Fizzled out!

Gardening in Flaming June

On the last day of Flaming June the rain came down, but despite the soggy weather the Gardening Group enjoyed a tramp around Margaret & Geoff Fletcher’s beautiful garden in Saxon Road.

The garden of their Victorian house is huge, gorgeous planting everywhere and a myriad of pathways all leading somewhere, well eventually to a very good plant sale. Nearly everyone went home with a bag or two.

We were served with delicious cakes and tea or coffee and happily all found somewhere dry to sit. This was the first Gardening Group Trip that we were rained on but it definitely didn’t spoil the fun.

Margaret and Geoff open their garden regularly for the charity the National Garden Scheme (NGS) and all proceeds go to the charity. The NGS started up in 1927 and to  date has donated over £67 million to some of the UKs best-loved nursing and health, and gardening charities.
