Helping out at Ladygreen Garden Centre this Christmas had been planned for many months, but when our second Santa, David, felt unwell Southport u3a had an emergency. We couldn’t let all those hopeful children down, but luckily Santa Phil Richardson boldly stepped in to help out. He isn’t quite the correct shape but some helpful padding sorted him out – then he was ready for action.
The children loved Santa Phil, though some were a little wary. When it came to story time they were all spellbound. His strong voice quickly silenced the bustling restaurant and all were captivated – ‘Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse’.
All went home with a toy reindeer, a book and a lovely smile.
