The Joy Of Writing group is a new group which will allow the creative writers among us to meet, read and discuss our work. It doesn’t matter if you are a published author or just someone, as I suspect most of us will be, who enjoys writing for its own sake.
We would like to limit this group to Prose rather than Poetry. Plan is for a total of 8 people to join the group. There are already two of us signed up, and we will be leading the group. The next 6 people to come forward will be invited to join us.
At the first meeting on 21st September we will spend time getting to know each other and if anyone wants to bring along any of their work to read, time allowing, that would be great.
How we envisage this working is that each month we will try and give you some inspiration for the following month. It may take the form of a picture, an item, or just the germ of an idea. No-one will be forced to use these suggestions nor will there be any restriction on genre.
This is not a tutorial, I suspect we will all be amateurs who want to share our work and listen to words of encouragement and advice from others. Each month we want to have time for everyone to be heard so we will restrict reading to one short story, or, if you are writing a book, one chapter. The aim is for everyone to be heard and no one person to dominate the meeting. We hope for positive criticism of each other’s work.
Why not give it a try? We look forward to welcoming the first 6 people who want to come along.
