Those lovely ladies of Local HIstory 1 sent out an invite to an informal get together for a picnic in Hesketh Park. The weather co-operated and in the end upwards of 23 ladies, plus a man or two, accepted the invite.
Camping chairs were dug out of storage, sandwiches and salads prepared and in some cases the wine cellars raided.
Our ladies being of a gentle and delicate nature, everybody decided to sit under the dappled shade of the trees. A bit of a shame as the sun had decided to grace us with its presence. Still, it was warm(ish) and there was plenty of conversation and laughter to keep the chill at bay.
It was good to meet some people we haven’t seen before and thanks must go to Local History 1 for the invite.
Another pleasant aspect of the afternoon was seeing the newly restored fountain in operation.
