The Southport u3a Bird Watching group travelled to Burton mere and Parkgate recently. We were lucky to meet Iolo Williams of Autumnwatch fame, and he very kindly agreed to have his photo taken with us.
As well as meeting Iolo, we saw many great birds including a Cettis Warbler. Although we have heard one on many occasions but have never seen it before.
We finished off at Parkgate where the raptors paraded in front of us, Sparrowhawk, Kestrel, Marsh Harrier, Merlin, and a brief glance of a female Hen Harrier.
