Walk to Lyme Park Estate
On the 2nd September 2024, fourteen walkers made their way up to Disley railway station car park, Cheshire for the start of the trail around Lyme Park estate. The walk started up the Gritstone trail then on to Higher Moor for the wonderful view over the hills. Unfortunately due to the light rain and low cloud, the views were restricted this time! Then on to the top of the moor with a pause to look at the ancient Saxon crosses that marked a long lost boundary. As it was now raining we decided to head down to the woods for shelter and lunch, but first having to navigate past a here of Highland cattle blocking the path.
After lunch in the woods, the rain had stopped and we made our way down to Lyme Park house for coffee and cake in the lovely cafe and a look into the chapel and the bookshop. Then off to the Cage tower and back to the cars in the dry. We walked 6.5 miles and climbed 1000ft.
