Southport U3A

Congratulations To Just One Thing Group Members

Congratulations – in just a few months the Just One Thing group has made such a difference in our town – THANK YOU.

We helped raise £3,500 in just one day for the Salvation Army at their Christmas Bazaar AND loaded them up with gifts for the future.

We picked apples for Burscough Community Farm – and they even made a film of us.

We visited Tudor Bank Nursing Home, took our Choir singing carols and knitted comforters for their Dementia patients.

In addition to painting the bandstand, a team have been faithfully restoring the railings around Victoria Park each week.

Plus we helped with the recording of boats at one of the top UK sailing events of the year on our Marine Lake.

2025 – What’s In Store

Warm Hats, Scarves and Sleeping Bags – please bring any you no longer need to the January 9th Christ Church Meeting. These are being collected for distribution by Southport Soup Kitchen

Victoria Park – Railing Painting will start again when the weather warms up – this is Friday mornings, and I will email all when it restarts. (everything provided gloves etc,)

Hesketh Park – Are creating a sensory garden and would like us to manage it

Southport Learning Festival in June – watch this space

Tudor Bank – we have a lovely relationship here and residents at many care homes really appreciate a friendly face and stimulating conversation.

24 Hour Yacht Race & British Classic Motor Show – need our help in September.

Any many, many more things in the town.

You have done a great job and the Third Age Trust – u3a Sources think so too!

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and Happy healthy New Year and a very BIG THANK YOU for all that you have done since September for Southport. What a team!
